Share the Bounty

This particular post is inspired by Nathan Bransford whose blog is listed in the sidebar. His post today follows my last post nicely. In the midst of counting our blessings and working like busy little elves during this season to bless the lives of those we love, let's not forget that it is very easy to bless the lives of others we don't know who are in need.

Nathan introduced me to an organization called Heifer International (I know, funny name, but impressive organization.) whose worthy goal is to end world hunger. They aim to do this by teaching a man to fish, so to speak. Community involvement, education, and a commitment to "share the offspring of gift animals with others in need" are all a part of their comprehensive program. They are also committed to teaching sustainable agricultural development to those they help. Great stuff.

Following Nathan's lead today I will pledge $.50 per comment left between now and December 31st. (up to $50 - May not seem like much, but it's what I can do right now.)

I have tried to include a link to Heifer International , but am new to this blogging business and am not sure I did it right. If no link appears, please go check them out at heifer.org.

Merry Christmas to all, and while you are enjoying your holiday bounty take a minute to remember those not as fortunate.

Great post and great idea! Steven and I came across a few different opportunities where we were able to help out a few different families in need. It felt so nice, even though we didn't have much to give. It really helped us to feel the true spirit of Christmas.

I hope for the sake of the heifer organization you get lots of comments on this post!

I'm Julia, from Ho Chi Minh, Viet Nam. My wish is that wonderful people like you can raise enough money so that organizations like Heifer become (meaning that their assistance is no longer needed).
